not easy to photograph the blue bells in the median at 80 MPH. Lady Bird Johnson was the creator of beautiful roadways, starting in Texas and her idea is all over the USA.
THANK YOU LADY BIRD!

Rolling down that BLUE Highway

On The next blog posting,
be sure to double click on a photo, to enlarge, to see the big "smile". You will also see my neighbors oriental lilies that mostly bloomed after they left for Canada and the smoke cloud from a "cane" burn. When posting photos, I downloaded five, then I wrote the description. When I published, the wording does not hook up with the photos.......any suggestions for me? Do I have to download a photo and write text immediately? Enjoy my home and my El Paso adventure. Carry on....

Around the park
What a surprise when returning to Llano after the road trip to El Paso. I gave Mary a tour of the park, then about 7 pm we went to walk up on the levee so she could view the resaca and maybe see the pelicans. Lo and Behold the baracade.....gator on the loose! Charlie and Marge live across the street from the former Bass Pond, now named "Swamp Llano". John caught the gator on the shoreline, the water shots are all I was able to catch of the six foot PARK pet.....

USBC Road Trip
to El Paso was a good trip. Unfortunately, in the last four years EP's Mexican sister city has turned into the most violent city in the world. The bowling association takes bids five years out. At the time EP was chosen, its neighbor was peaceful. I am sure many bowlers had intended to make the trip south for the day while in EP to bowl. I drove over from Mercedes and Mary flew to EP from Kansas City. Nice Holiday Inn, close to a casino, located in New Mexico. We both finished ahead when we went back to the motel at 10 pm. Weather was great, we had two days in the pool and hot tub and met a large group of bowlers from the midwest, Wisc, Minn and Michigan. We bowled with women from Green Bay. Valerie carries a 208 average, she reminded me of my friend Karie who is an outstanding talent at the game. Her 614 was good, but not good enough because of the new payout plan, handicapping. At the airplane museum, we had to help the man fill the gas tanks and I loved the propellers.....
Another "cool" plane that the marines used, wings retracted to help in take off and landings, 1935 Auburn automobile and I loved the windshield of this car, forgot the get the name.
Looking at the area map while in El Paso, I saw a place called the "War Eagle Museum" and decided it was something we could do. Located in New Mexico, about 40 miles south of Las Cruces, this was our Tuesday road trip. The first display in the door honors the female aviators, "The 99's", our favorite airplane along with the story of the pilot that was shot down and rescued after 21 days in his raft and how he survived. He caught some fish, shot some birds, had enough rations for a week.
It is always wonderful to see mountains, for those of us that live in the heartland. Naturally, had to find a post office and a fun mail box to add to the mix, while driving down the lane of pecan trees.
this is some Amigo, that must have been the mascot for the tournament. Mary and I in front of the scoreboard, before we started to bowl. We had a two hour delay, complete power outage. On the ride between Fort Stockton and Kerrville, I was co pilot.

Rolling down that Blue Highway
will be soon, rolling back north for the summer. Lots of rain this past week, with the last two nights BIG MONSOONS. First one did not last long, but Sat night was rough. The weather guessers were right on with the timing of when it would hit my city. They also said HAIL, so I moved my vehicle under the carport at a vacant lot next door. I didn't hear hail, but it stormed long and hard and I am sure the golf course is closed again. I have the rig waxed, now I need to seal the roof as soon as it dries out. About 90% of the outdoor work is done as well as indoors, packing, need to pick up chairs, clean the floor, lemon wax the wood, cover the furniture, AND AND AND......Everyone that leaves has a different job, some tow their rigs all the way to Canada, some leave their rigs at storage rental places, the ones with mobile homes are the luckiest.......one of these days.......The sun is shining, need to go buy gas for the vehicle, take a drive up the mountain, check out the pool, need to BOB one more day! Carry on........

He is a great gentleman.......
that's Phil Mickelson, 3rd time champ. I truly enjoyed watching the event via Directv. they had about 4 or 5 stations to watch, including the daily chosen group..meaning the leaders going into the Sunday round. I was able to watch Lee and Phil for the last two hours. I have never been of fan of Woods and have been insulted by his personal life and his insults to other pros when he announced that he could win every event even if he played his B game. He is an insult to the PGA. There must be a pay off to have him on the TV for every shot. Thank you to Directv for giving me the choice of what I want to watch.
I also sponsor a golf event for the Susan B Komen breast cancer research......Last year it was the late wife of Freddie Couples that we honored.......this year it is the wife and mother of Phil Mickelson.......if you have a chance to play in a Komen event, do it....if you don't golf, help me...just donate the $20......I raised $910 this year with my event......carry on my friends.......

Spent the afternoon
in Progresso with my Cornhusker friends,
after a round of golf. Picked up some
movies, my choice was Valentine's Day.
Good movie, home state man Ashton was
the lead actor. It was entertaining.
I am posting via the new computer. Win 7
has not messed with me yet, I need to
download some photos and some music.
The sun is shining at 845 am. I should
get outside and do some waxing on the
west side of the rig.....great idea....
Carry on.....

It started to rain
Lining up a blindfolded golfer during the
East Side Trailer Trash Golf event.
St Patty's day, barb and her deviled eggs,
friend Carolyn Fox and I have mutual
Ankeny friends, Quinta Mazatlan bait
for birds and the old bell at the entry
to the hiking trails...
a few minutes ago. Wind out of the SE, so I had to
close the door and put on a blouse over the swim
suit. Guess I won't be bobbing tonight. Now the
weather man suggests four days of rain starting
on Sunday. I have to get my rig waxed in the next
10 days, back it done and the bottom of one side
and the front is done.
The golf game is still great fun. My favorite hole,
#8, is 209 yards, straight fairway, first 175 yards
is rough ground, then it is uphill to a narrow green
that runs low in the front to high in the back.
With a straight shot, I can drive the green, with either
the big stick, a five wood, or my hybrid. Last week
using the hybrid I drove the green, walked it off as
about 9 feet, rolled it in for my first eagle of the
winter. Also shot a nice 39 on the back nine the
other day with some good putting finally.
I have a new laptop, will spend the evening trying to
figure it out....carry on
