Spring is here

in Iowa, about 40 degrees cooler than Texas today. I am still in my shorts, but wearing a hooded jacket while toting bags from the lanai down to the basement for unpacking. Only one bag left to deal with, the clothes. I brought 95% of the clothes home this year. I took too much along last fall and intend to cut the volume in half, for the fall trip. I forgot to factor in work clothes, when work is over for the day, the swim suit comes on, shower time, then into jammies. At 430 pm today I wondered out loud, it is pool time, where is the pool? I need to figure this out, going to the city pool might be a plan. I need to download more gator photos. Last week Donna Gator was looking right at me, about 20 feet away. Those eyes....those strong legs.....I stayed in the car while I shot the pictures. No pool, I guess it is time for Happy Hour.....carry on........

I spotted this Oriole while chasing the Parrots one day.....another popular bird in my winter home......

Only A few Days

remain at Llano Grande RV Park for this season. Remember when time just dragged by, waiting for Christmas? Christmas vacation? Birthdays? Spring Break? Summer off of school? It doesn't work that way when retired. It seems like just yesterday I was arriving at my home in Texas, last October. My, time flies when you are having fun. the summer brings plans to golf just as much as I did during the winter, class reunion in July, I'd like to catch up with some college friends in eastern Iowa and complete a few jobs......clean out the junk in the basement, enjoy the screen porch, talk with the neighbors who live in Florida during the winter, visit with the former co-workers who are still on the job. And before I know it, October will be here, time to head home again.

The hummers are active again. One day I was wearing a bright yellow blouse and I heard a tap and screech at the window, it was a hummer with red highlights wanting to visit with me. As I left the West Pool the other day, there are four large bushes of lantana at the entrance/exit. As I opened the gate, there was a hummer in my way. I also saw it today, same spot. I purchased a solar hummingbird at Don Wes this winter. While sitting indoors last week, I could see some motion outdoors. It was a real hummer, buzzing the plastic solar hummer.flirting? I am bringing a solar hummer home, sure hope I can interest some Iowa hummers and get some pictures.....this baby hummer was sitting on Hager's Bird of Paradise for over an hour, it has green markings, the hummer at the pool had yellow markings. Easter Sunday

with Barb fixing the decorations, with our big bunny. Vicky and Mike and I enjoyed some great wine and delicious dinner........the day started with a flat tire.....too bad that wasn't the drink of the day........carry on....

He's Back

our friendly SNAPPER. Back in the Bass Pond at Llano. Park workers were at the pond when I drove by, they were shooting pix with a telephone. I asked them to scare it, so he'd turn around.....OH MY! He's just a baby, maybe 6 feet long, might be the same guy that was here last year.

Wow, March Madness

is finally over, even though I love it. It began with the Ankeny HS girls BB team at state tournament, then the AHS boys, Iowa, ISU, UNI and Drake men all had two post season games. Iowa ISU and Drake women only had one post season game.I chose Kansas and Baylor to win, easy bet on Baylor women. I thought Pat Summitt or Tara at Stanford would be the upset team vs. Baylor.....didn't happen.
SOOOOO, that means it is baseball season. What does it mean again? The first pitch from the CUBS pitcher, blooper single. FB reports that da Cubs lost 2-1. Here we go!
At least half of the Llano winter Texans are gone, maybe more. I am working at waxing the rig, lots to do in three weeks, it will go by fast. Last haircut of the season was $7 plus tip. The pool in the afternoon is fabulous. Iowa friends heading home tomorrow, to Pocahontas. Looks like Mike and Vicky are buying a new mobile, I saw a for sale sign at the old rig. Easter Sunday dinner at the Rec Hall. Last year we won the table decorating award and have new plans for this year, bunnies, baskets and chocolates........my Thurs Friday co workers leave in the morning for their 5 day ride back to The Wild Rose Country in Canada.....class reunion this summer, time to work on the mailing.......tomorrow, manana........carry on my friends.C
