Following half of a double wide
mobile isn't fun, no way to pass.
So you just keep rolling down that
blue highway until the driver turns off.
More hauling and cruising under
and around until the odometer rolls
over, about 402 pm on Tues, about
50 miles north of Victoria, TX.
The third day rolling down that
blue highway was wet for a while.
Tough to catch that BUD truck.
Finally, Whataburger! The Iowa
challenge is Bee Bops.both have
great grilled chicken sandwiches
and chocolate shakes. Iowa wins,
they always have a coupon in the
paper, buy one get one free!
Just what I have been looking for,
a winter Texan on the way back
home in their big rig...Fly away...
HEB is celebrating, beautiful truck!
Rolling past the check point,
Border Patrol Post, I caught
this HEB truck. Iowa's version
is HI-V. A beautiful ride into
Harlingen thru the palm trees,
finally the last turn off of
that blue highway to my winter
home. While waiting to go to church
on Sunday, I was entertained by
a couple fighting hummers!

Honey I'm
HOME....The Long and Winding Road was a great
ride, back to the Rio Grande Valley...I have some
road photos to post, not tonight, I am pooped.
As usual, I did not sleep well in the motels.
Maybe I needed a glass of the "good stuff"...
Carry on.....

Waiting for Greg
to come home from work. Drinking a martini. Great meal in the crock pot. AND it looks close to 12 hours until departure time.....Just a few things left to pack.
47 tonight, so I can pack a few things that I did not want in my vehicle over
night. Tom Tom is programmed, mainly for the voice, so I can yell at "Richard"
my guide.....Yes, he gets nervous when I change my route, to stop at a gas
station for one....He is too funny! Music ready and updated. Cameras ready.
I AM READY for the Rio Grande Valley. Steve sent a message saying it has been beautiful the last few days....it is cooling down I noticed. Moving IN takes as
much time as the drive. I take too much stuff along. Decided to leave the gas
grill at home, unless there is room in the morning. do I take the grill or the
HAWKEYE bean bag game? Reminds me of year ONE, last thing in, Freddy or the
palm tree? Freddy won out. He has been with me for three years. Can't wait to
get together with my other family down in the Valley. Just a great life, having
two families....next entry might be from the road,or might be from Mercedes........
Carry On my friends........aloha.........

be in the the yellow room, he is with me in
the Breeze.....carry on......

36 hours and counting
until I hit the road......YES!!! SWEET!!!
I was happy today, reading the "Your 2 Cents Worth"
column this morning. There are a lot of folks
that are OPEN minded, considering our government.
One caller said, "I have to laugh. With all of the
GOP bashing, the Democrats must be frustrated. Wise
up--it's not Democrats against Republicans anymore.
It's individuals of all political affiliations who
want what's right for this country and those
that don't. Stop hearing only what you want to hear
and listen to everything that is being said." signed,
True Patriot
A DM Senior called to say " It is good to know there
is one Republican that can think for herself and her
constituents. Ms. Snow. The rest need to remember
what people were voting for last November: health care."
A Pella Patriot commented, "Why is it that if I disagree
with you, you think I hate you? Why all this name calling and
enmity between political opponents? If I disagree with
your policies, why do you think I hate my country? Why
can't we sit at the table and have civil discussions
with each other anymore?"
"Lest we forget, before bin Laden, we had Yasser Arafat,
at one time the no. 1 terrorist in the world. He won the
Nobel peace prize, too." From Real Des Moines Man
Finally, an independent voter called in to comment,
"All you Obama fans: Unemployment is 10%, and will soon
be 12%. No job creation is happening. America needs tax cuts
and Ronald Reagan. The worst is yet to come."
This is what I LOVE about America.....everyone has their
own opinions. We can express what we believe and we won't
be beat up or thrown in jail or hanged for our beliefs...
Carry on my friends...........

Tonight is the last
night for my Iowa bowling league, 21
games in for nationals. Then, some pix
of what I am looking forward to: walking
the beach at SPI, no reindeer, missing
IWBB, can't wait to get to the Bud
plant in Palestine, TX and to drive over
Lake Ufallah, OK....Road trip in four days.

SIX DAYS

Get the meat ready, take the golf clubs
upstairs, pack the Mac and TV....I thought
I was close.......Sunday is going to be
busy........carry on.......

It's Almost Time
for practice to start. Today was
media day at IOWA, too early for me
to roll out of the sack and
make the road trip. Lisa said not
much good comes out of Ames, Iowa,
except for one of her recruits, an
all stater. It good to keep an open
mind and keep the competition alive!
Carry on.....

A trip to find the Good Stuff
was successful about a month ago, with
a trip to Bountiful, aka Templeton, Iowa.
We retired golfers need side events to
pass the lazy days. The short drive west
is about 77 miles, to the very small
town of Templeton, home of Templeton Rye.
What a history, dating back before
Prohibition and then to Al Capone and
beginning once again in 2000. It takes four
years to age and the end result is a
wonderful sipping whiskey. It will be perfect
down south, after happy hour, out on
the patio with the neighbors, chewing the
fat about the latest golf round, trip to
the beach or Mexico....Ahh.....the good stuff!
