A Great Ride,

rolling down that blue highway, back home to Iowa for the summer. Online weather reports showed a major two day storm from around Rockdale, Texas, all the way to Pittsburgh PA. The boys delayed their departure by one day and I left on Weds, a week ago. I rode the entire route in sunshine, and slowly dipping temps. First night was in Palestine, TX., my usual stop, about an 8-9 hour drive. I took some notes, less than half an hour north is Lake Palestine and there is one motel, right on the lake. I might try for that stop next year. Second night was Joplin MO. Cindy, a college friend from Truman who lives in Springfield, MO, drove over for the evening. I asked how old her son is, she replied 30 years old.......that means it has been many years since we last met up at Homecoming in Kirksville. We just took off in our conversation, right where we left off, all those years ago. Cindy took Friday off work, so I hung around until 10 am, I wanted to get home before dark. About an hour and a half north, in the middle of road destruction, I watched the odometer turn over from 999.9 miles to 0.0 miles. I was taking pictures, I can't text message while driving, so why not take pictures? I am careful.....After 1284 miles, a sore butt, and tired....I ended the road trip at 505......the boys were all unpacked, Greg was sweeping, Jeff was out buying a new car......I still have road fatigue and I AM COLD. It was 74 when I arrived home and since then, it hasn't been over 60 and I had to wear long pants on the golf course on Monday, along with a stocking cap and a jacket and a long sleeved tee shirt......Big summer project, I brought home all of my clothes and have to decide what to get rid of. I hate garage sales, so T.A.K.E. will get a nice donation. Hostas are almost a foot tall, lily of the valley not blooming yet, looks like all of my tulips are deceased, 7th grade tours of the Historical Society next week, more golf, I need a nap and I already miss my afternoon BOBBING with the folks at Llano.......carry on.....
