all the world is bright and gay......
Today and tomorrow we celebrate the
life of Ankeny's #1 Irish lady, Jody
Donahoe Duncan. Co owner of the BIG
BEAR restaurant in Ankeny.
She hosted a wonderful St Patty's day
every year. Pass that bottle of Irish whiskey
around the room....
They better be practicing the great

Today
a light dusting of rain. I could see it
through the window. Not Rain. Not a
downpour. Not a Tornado or a
hurricane. Just a dusting, like feathers
flying in the wind or after a pillow fight,
just floating, in the air, no leaves dropping
today, but the flowers and vegetables are
receiving nourishment, to become great...
beauties, Rutgers and gold, pink,
blue,yellow, white and purple flowers
Calm my days
refresh my nights......

rode along. There was a steady rain storm all
the way north and beautiful sunshine all of
the way home. Great lunch, great visit,
great friends.......Michelle and Denny,
Milo with Michelle and me, Greg, Jeff, Marian

Neil Diamond
it has been a while since I was able
to see Neil diamond in concert.I had
to cancel in 2006, because the next
day I was having surgery. Bummer. His
new DVD concert is wonderful.

Iowa Granny Basketball
Ankeny's 3rd trip to state tourney was
in 1974, first round matched up with
andrew and this lady, Kim Peters. She
was born with one arm, NOT a handicap.
She is a hall of fame athlete. Do you
remember those Charlie Taylor Converse
high top BB shoes? More defensive
pressure and Rhonda shooting 2!
this group starts with a Denise Long hook
shot.......stuck on the board and a try
to get it out.she was successful, but it
did not count! Remember pressure on the
out of bounds throw in? Two greats from
AHS, Dick Rasmussen and Rhonda Penquite

The Solheim Cup
is on the air. This is great golf, USA vs Britain.
A lot of support from all of the fans and many
many great shots. Watch for Christina Kim from the
USA, a hoot. Tomorrow I will have to do a photo
shoot like I did with the British open.......
Today was a great day visiting with my Texas
family. Rain the entire ride north, then the sun
came out from behind the clouds and it was a
beautiful ride home, two hours...
Keep watching the Solheim and hope that Juli Inkster
will do her victory dance....that is also
a hoot....she is awesome with the golf club,
but her coordination on the dance floor is
hysterical......GO USA...........

40th birthday parties
in Minnesota are great fun...you
need good food, drinking vessels
for beer and daiquiris, a place
for the kids to play and lots of
relatives......
