The First Week of March Madness

is over and it was ugly for my favorite teams and coaches......The ladies all lost, Iowa women lost in 2nd round of the Big Ten tourney to Nebraska. The great Ankeny Hawkettes lost in the championship game, in overtime, to their Iowa City nemisis, ICWest and today the great Connie Yori, hometown girl, lost in the Big 10 championship game, TWO overtimes and finally the Iowa Wrasslers, wound up in third place in the Big Ten Event. Drake men had one win in the Mo Valley event, UNI won a game.
Round two starts this week with high school state tourney, Iowa men, ISU men and women in their respective conference tilts. I am looking at one upset and one for sure win, Freddy has a great team........Sorry ISU women, but Baylor will probably win the KC event on the way to the national title, so not to worry, just show up and play great and make the NCAA's, home floor......UNI and Drake women will get going on Thursday in the Mo Valley tourney. I love all this basketball.........

Spreading the wings for me, the pelican going fishing and the heron landed on the railing about 20 feet from me. I shot off a few photos, then took out the small camera, set it to video and walked towards the bird. Shot the heron flying away, mission accomplished.......

This year's Komen event was dedicated to our friend Jan, who is home in Ohio undergoing chemo after her surgery. Duaine and Lila Bettis are shown with the pink clubs and bag, won by Duaine. My favorite billboard, on the way to the island.

Barb wore the same outfit last year, which I used on my promo postcard. She reported that I can't use their photo again, because of her dress, she has only ONE pink shirt........





Lynn, Bob, Ruth Anne and I represented Llano Grande at the Park Olympics in the golf event. They shot a 79 and we shot a 78, good enough for the silver medal. Nice course, Los Lagos in Edinburg, 1,000 sand traps, we hit two and that messed up our score card. Our opponents won the gold, they missed one of 6 putts over 35 feet........when you're hot, you're hot....OH, and Freddy was there to cheer us on.........

Part of the winter activities......

Years ago, brother Greg dreamed of having his own resturant, he chose the name of "Poncho's" Well, there are a couple of his restaurants in the RGV, where we celebrated his 66th birthday.......




Surprise........Surprise.......I was making popcorn and looked up.......surprise, Dottie and Chuck walked in to the snack bar at the golf course......they were supposed to go to Arizona this winter.......surprise, a great surprise......Jeff and Greg gave them a tour of the park after they had lunch.........




My friend Lesley had her first 18 hole score in the 70's. Hooray, except when they returned home and readded, it became a 77!
