I have been that busy lately, that I could not post one photo or note in about one month. Oh well, this is not going to be much.
Merry CHRISTmas to all and to all a good night, time to hit the sack after a wonderful CHRISTmas day with Ankeny friends/family here in the RGV, Rio Grande Valley. Delicious meal of course, relaxing swim in their salt water pool and some card games, I learned fast, but didn't win, 3/13 is the game. Carry on........

More shots from the end zone
My comp ticket courtesy of Coach Bluder had me behind the bench, but not a good spot to shoot pictures. So, I moved to the end zone, from the familiar spot I used to shoot from in Carver Hawkeye Arena. The thumbnail photos are so small, I hope I chose some good ones to post. carry on

USS Lexington, Corpus Christi, Texas
was docked just to the east of my motel, so I walked over to check it out. The pathway was not good, about four feet wide and it looked like an old jetty that has suffered a lot of damage from big waves. Quite a site to see after the ball games.I wish I had driven over for a nightime shot, but you know us winter Texans, can't miss happy hour........carry on

Trying again to post photos
that was fun.......must be the lousy internet hook up in the park. Well, what's been going on? Work started Nov 1 with a surprise, I am not working with the Rio Metro group cleaning their for sale and rental units. I am getting the apartments ready for the renters. 10 apartments, almost done getting them cleaned. On Nov 12 I drove to Corpus Christi, about 150 miles north. The Iowa Hawkeye women were in town for a two day basketball tournament. The Hawkeyes won easily over Southern University, 24 points. Second game vs. Arkansas State was rough. Ark St could not run with the Hawkeye women, so they took 15-20 seconds off the clock before running a play. I am glad they were poor shooters. Iowa won the 530 pm championship game with 13 Hawk fans in attendance, out of about 25 fans in the stands. No ceremony to present the trophy. Thanksgiving Day was spent with Marian, Milo and Denny, my family from Cedar Falls, Iowa. A big plate of food was too much for me. I am not used to eating that much food at that time of the day. I sat outside, did some puzzles and took an hour nap, followed by an hour in the swimming pool and spa.
I had to work on Black Friday, but headed to Harlingen at 1 pm. Getting in and out of Target was a piece of cake, I picked up 5 items, none on my list of sale items. I then drove through the parking lot to Kohl's. I found my two items, then found the end of the line, about 150 people. Kohls did not get any money from me. I went to Academy Sports today to see if they marked down that three wheel bicycle, nope! Guess Christmas shopping is done, unless there are some more big sales coming up. Will try to load more photos, maybe one at a time.....carry on

I am counting the days
and the number is TWO. Soon to be on that Blue Highway heading
back to Texas for the winter. The boys will take over the house
while I am gone, keeping the home fires burning. New photos
to shoot, new friends to make, more trips to the beach to pelican
and dolphin watch. I wonder if the park gator is still in residence.
Carry on...

More Statues
are needed everywhere. I don't remember if I posted any of these statues. We don't have any statues in Ankeny. We don't even have a statue that represents the Ankeny Hawkettes and Hawks....These are from that small Nebraska town, Hastings, a lot smaller than my home town.......get with it Ankeny.......

Homecoming, Hall of Honor and the 49ers
Taylor and Cameron were introduced as Homecoming royalty. First kick and disaster followed, a 27-10 loss for the Hawk football team. Each year the AHS alumni chooses two new members to their Hall of Honor. This year it was the medical field honored. From the class of 59, Marilyn Hefte Asay and from the class of 68 Dr. Doug Leavengood. Doug's wife Lois Ann is 1/4th of the 49ers. four girls born in the same year, all neighbors, I am the eldest, the rest of the girls were born in November, Becky 2nd, Lois 3rd and the baby of the group, Jan. The loudspeaker system at the football field was lousy, we could not understand most of the speech and that caused people to talk and laugh and not honor these two individuals. It was a great week end.
Doug and Lois deplaned and headed for lunch at the Village Inn in Ankeny. The other Lois joined us for a two hour lunch w/o martinis.....
the 49ers enjoyed breakfast at the Des Moines Farmers Market on Saturday.Great omelets in the alley.
